It was just topped up, the tank and water have always been that colour. Maybe it's rust?

Guess I should flush the radiator soon.
I thought Volkswagens were supposed to be reliable?

Will do, is this a fairly simple job? Could the brown coolant water be caused by the head gasket? Or is that likely to be something else?

Probs rust mate, i flushed mine and its much cleaner. If its ever had that god awful stuff called radweld, that will be clogged up in there too. Id drain it as others have said, use a flush to clean any rubbish out, and top up with G12. :)

I have the best part of a bottle of g13 left. Whats the total amount of coolant I will need?

I assume theres a plug on the bottom of the radiator? then I let gravity do the work?
I thought Volkswagens were supposed to be reliable?

do a 50/50 mix of coolant an water,an there should be a drain tap  :smiley:
