+1 I'm afraid, why bother looking at a car which has a std spec you don't like? The embossed 35 seats were the concept for the UK and when they started to run out the gti and gtd they bunged leather in, which meant to keep the 35 in line it got it too.

You could always buy an early R with cloth.

It's not as simple as that though is it. The golf ticks all the boxes in every respect (as it always has). I've owned 3 over the years. A mk3 driver, mk4 gt Tdi 130 and a mk5 gti which is my current motor.
My next motor I wanted to push the boat out a little and get something a little special. The seats are important and I love the tartan cloth, the mind boggles why VW would produce an anniversary model and not offer this as a default option. They got everything right with ed30 but seems they've failed to achieve the same levels with the 35. Not saying that the 35 is technically inferior because its not, infact it's the opposite. Those concept seats look stunning! I'd gladly waver the tartan for those, they're amazing. At the end of the day if you're spending your hard earned cash on a new motor, you'd at least expect a couple of options. How would you feel if 17" monzas where the only wheels on offer? We're all human and we all want different things.  I'll probably still buy one but I'll always feel flat about those mundane seats.

don't get me wrong i wanted the 35 alcantara trim as love the Pirelli trim in the wife's but i was over it in about 10 minutes of getting the thing, trick they missed was using red stitching on the leather

in reality the fact they didn't colour code the rear diffuser was the most annoying thing about the car

Hi, I'm new to the site & currently looking for a mk6. The Jacara cloth seats have become an issue with my darling Wife, she hates them, (remind her of picnic rugs & scotch eggs!) I, however, love them! I begrudge having to narrow our search for a leather clad Gti when there are currently some great used bargains with the iconic cloth! Great site with a huge pool of info by the way!
