It is a Discovery in dress...but an X5 is a 5 series, made worse by jacking it up. Q7 likewise.

What's the point in having a 4x4 that was never intended to have the capability of a 4x4.

Plus the Discovery is widely acknowledged, and has been since 2004 by the press around the world to be the best large 4x4.

BMW and Audi 4x4's are all talk and no trousers I'm afraid.

I didn't see the point in having a 4x4 until I got this Rav to flog on. Driving it is so comfortable and the high up position is actually really good.

I can imagine owning an X5 wouldn't be the worse thing in the world.

Where all my moneys went.

The key question here is what percentage of time do any of these spent being driven off road. If its anything more than less than 5% then the BMW wins by a country mile.

Discovery is 7 seats, if that's a tick in your boxes.

You won't look quite such a c*nt either, although it's marginal.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

My inlaws have a Subaru Tribeca, which is a 7 seater softroader with a 3.0 V6. A luxury barge, it wallows around, uses too much fuel. It's got all the toys, sat nav, reversing camera, rear DVD player and the like.
Their justifications are that a) they use it for towing a caravan (so it does actually go off road) and b) my mother in law can't easily lower herself into normal height cars.
Frankly with a 70 yr old behind the wheel it's a tad dangerous, something that heavy with that much power and a driver that's not so good at spotting hazards

Personally I don't see the point. If you need the ground clearance to go off road, fair enough. But otherwise you might as well just get a better driving saloon or estate. And if you need 4 wheel drive for grip in snow or up hills or towing, just buy the 4wd version.

Range Rover Sport any day of the week.

If you're desperate for 7 seats...better still than the RRS, the Discovery.

Pushing the LR pretty hard there
