Hard to say an average, as it depends on spec.

List the condition & mileage of the vehicle, what factory fitted bits are on there, & what aftermarket / converted bits are on there.

With this info we can make an educated guess based on what parts have sold for previously.
The standard GTI 8v doesn't really have much of value so it's
sub £100 for engine
£50 gearbox
£10 to £20 per panel
etc.

Scrapping gets you around £250 these days.

What you also have to consider is can you dispose of the shell once the engine etc has gone?

Your not going to raise a lot breaking an 8v GTI, if it was a 16v or Anni your would see a lot more interest.

"97 2.0 8v Recaro's + Air Con, BRC LPG Conversion, Stainless exhaust & manifold."

The above is what it says below his SIG Picture.

Recaro's, Exhaust & manifold, May sell with ease. But the rest you will struggle.

The amount you can raise is definitely  dependant on time,  space and effort. I was going to get an 8v to break last month as i could have had it for scrap cost but didn't bother in the end due to lack of interest in parts and i didnt want to be stuck with in pieces outside my house for more then a few weeks.
16v,  VR6'S & Annis are the only ones worth breaking imo unless its a heavily modified 8v.

i'd probably struggle to get rid of the shell to be honest. it has 175500 on the clock, still runs like a dream and the only mods really are the lpg and exhaust and manifold. as for condition it has stone chips, bit of rust on r/os door and peeling lacquer on rear quarter. think i'll just put it in the for sale section. thanks for the reply guys.
