Got it all sorted now, bought another set of headlights from eBay, cut the backs off and got the glass lenses out, pics to follow!

I haven't read this thread...But a part of me hopes that you baked them in the oven to get the glass off or however it is done, and then forgot about them! 

Now that would be classic.

the film i had is slightly darker than the one you got fella maybe thats why it as affected the light output or it could just be my sh!te vision

I don't know what happened! I heated them evenly with a heat gun, as soon as I gave it a little tweak with a screwdriver it just exploded! Managed to do another set of lights with no problems so I'm guessing I was unlucky and had an imperfection in the glass, like a bubble or something.
