Silicone Hoses
« on: 03 December 2012, 20:00 »
Just writing my list for Santa and wondering if any of you have fitted alternative hoses and if so what would you recommend? I was thinking of the red Forge hoses just to improve the look of the engine bay. Also are they hard to fit?

have you seen the neuspeed intercooler and discharge pipe?

you may be interested in these - no bling factor like the silicone hoses as you cant see them but theyre about 10bhp increase and more throttle response apparently

Thanks for that, I'm looking at the carbonio intake just because I can keep the engine cover etc. so looking at replacing some of the exposed hoses.

Been there done that and yes it was for show(s) purposes...I used Samco red hoses and also painted the engine cover red and rocker gloss black...went well quite nicely on my black swift.

did you get any hoses?

some forge ones on ebay now

dont think you would see these much though as theyre pretty hidden. should improve performance though as the standard hoses are quite restrictive.

No not yet for the same reasons. I think the hoses may be too covered unless I get rid of my engine cover which I don't want to due to having it painted etc.

I'm gonna be "THICK" here and ask the question........Whats the benefits of fitting them thats more than cosmetic whether you see them or not?

I've done suspensions in the past, exhausts as well but never quite got what a different hose will do??? :undecided:

theyre usually more uniform in diameter, whereas the standard ones can be oval on the bends etc so can be more restrictive

they're also stronger, not that it matters much unless its a tuned engine

i would use these hoses on my enduro bikes as theyre stronger and less prone to getting holed.

i suppose on a car its more cosmetic, though these intercooler ones should gain some performance too due to being a bit less restrictive

the ones in the link i posted will be no good as you wont see them as they will be behind the bumper

for bling your probably better off with the coolant hoses as you can see more of them in the engine bay
