Hi all & every one who remembers me. A heads up I'm going to be coming back over to you guys and buying my self a mk3 again. Since my last one I have shared a new mondeo with the gf. Then I needed a second car so I baught a vectra c 'what a bag of sh!t' I would never own a vauxhall again!!!! Even if I got given one for free lol. So unreliable it's unreal. Got me thinking and I just miss the good solid build quality and reliability. So Im selling the vecta once it's repaired and buying a mk3 golf gti. I could afford a mk2 or mk4 but I just a sucker for a mk3, I love them.
So keep your eyes out for my next mk3 gti.

Buy on Shell quality not engine, rust is your enemy and engines are cheap and easy to replace or swap.
I would look for a late plate run out model with all added extra's thrown in, more 8 valves out there but still a few good 16v cars.
If the sills are rusty in the door shut or have crushed jacking points then walk away, unless you have money to have it done properly.
Don't buy a Mk3 without getting under it or having a look behind the sill trims, no matter how good the rest of it looks

I have a valver for sale at the mo, has 8 months MOT on it, 127k miles. Body and underside are in good nick, I had to have a floorpan bung welded for the MOT but the sills are decent. Biggest problem is lacquer peel on the mirrors and tops of the passenger side doors.
