how much would i be looking at to get a 16v conversion done on my 8v

how much would i be looking at to get a 16v conversion done on my 8v ? i dnt wna sell the 8v and get a 16v too much headache for me... what exactly would i need to buy and how much would i be looking at ?

A 16v doner car. Then + labour if your not doing it. Then service bits if your gonna do it right.


But alot more headache than just buying a decent 16v??  :rolleyes:

iv found a engine, loom , ecu, and gearbox for £250 .... wtelse wud i need ?

Unless youve spent thousands on your 8v chassis its a pointless exercise.  Complete 16v cars cost sod all now,  just swap over your good bits and sell the 8v. Much easier.

p. s. You also need the hydraulic clutch set up as the 8v has a cable set up.

Buying a 16v is far, far and away less of a headache that doing any engine conversion!

Probably because the extra valves won't go down in the logbook!

Stand by my reply some posts ago.
If your going down the engine swap route you have to go 1.8t for bang for your buck, or for a 3.2 VR if you have dosh.
The 16v is only slightly less underwhelming than the 8v and will cost a lot of money to add decent bhp let alone the hassle with Vosa and your insurance.
Just go out and buy a Mk3 16v for under £500....or something with a turbo already installed :smiley:
