Tyre pressure

Quick question , as I'm new and not sure.
I have a gti 1.8 turbo with same tyres all round :

Pirelli 205/55/r 16 with the pressure printed at 51 psi for max.

This might sound silly but do I inflate them to their max 51 psi?
Or just near it? They don't look low profile to me , but I'm used to 18 inch tyres.
Checked the fuel flap and it reads 2.1 bar which is below 51 psi.
The fronts look softer than the rears.

Just wanted to ask the same myself, but also ask your opinions as I know if I take the car to the garage they'll tell me I definitely need a new tyre.

I've got 3 Kumho Ecsta le sport tyres, two up front and one rear. The other rear tyre is a Firestone Firehawk tz 200. Should these all be at 30 too? Apologies if this is too much tyre info! I've got a 2 litre GTI.

The other question I have is that I noticed the Firestone tyre looks a little like its wearing/eroding/cracking a little (I can't think of the actual word I need here!), I hope the picture shows what I mean, so do you think I need a new tyre or is this normal? I checked the others but they don't appear to have the same.

51 PSI would be interesting!

The cracking could be down to the age of the tyre, if it's severe, I'd personally be replacing them.

personally i would have the same tyres all round, if there are cracks i would also get it changed, think of your tyres in the cold wet months and with cracks water could seep in, now when temps hit below freezing that water will freeze and expand as does all water, it may not seem like much but given time those cracks will get deeper and can become a hazard. bite the bullet and get some new tyres. mine are gonna last me to march next year and then im putting my new wheels on with Vred Ultrac Sancs  dont fancy getting them scuffed in the winter is the reason

The 51psi on the tyre is for usa/canada use only i think its max inflation for when the tyre has been fitted and blowning the beads on to the rim

To be honest, thats not that bad but I would change that tyre, im guessing that tyre is old and never been treated with maguires tyre care, the way I look at it is, that small ammount of rubber around your wheels is the only thing between your car and the road, if you value your life and your car, replace it.
