HELP!!! Very worried 16v owner!
« on: 13 July 2005, 09:50 »
Right, about a three weeks ago my oil light/buzzer came on.  I stopped the car right away.  Oil level was fine, no leaks etc.  Started her up & no probs.  I had just gone round a corner really hard so i put it down to that.   About a week later I had been thrashing some country lanes, as I drove through my village at 30 mph the light/buzzer came on.  Again I stopped the car checked everything, started her again. No probs.  This happend once more, on closer inspection I could see oil being blown through the pressure sender on the oil cooler housing.  Got myself a new one, bolted it in about a week & half ago, no probs.  Till this morning.  On the way to work it came on again, i switched off the engine, re started it & it went off!!!    GRRRRRR    I don't know, but Im guessing its not oil pressure cos the engine has'nt gone pop or making any odd noises, but it only a guess.   The annoying thing is it can go for ages before it does it again.    HELP

Just to be on the safe side i would flush the engine and replace the oil and filter. Better safe than sorry!

Yeah, my thoughts exactly.  Just booked it in to the garage, going to get them to check, oil pick up, oil pump & test the oil pressure. Anything else I should be looking for??    If all of the above are ok its got to be a sender or a switch,  right?

dipstick blowing out would be a blockage somewhere in the system, and oil in air filter is from over filling imo, it could be your pick up pipe is full of gunk or lumps of engine!! but hopefully it'll be your sender! the wiring can go wonky as well apparently.

Probably got lost in the "Great Crash of 08
