Not my handy work, but I guess 19's might not look to different, as car on first page has 18" fitted and they look very big.

The 3 door seems to have lost that "kicked-up" look on the rear glass that the MKV/VI has had:

Think it looks brilliant. Looking at the side picture to the rear it has a look of the mark 1 mark 4 Golf. The interior looks to have taken a big leap forward very Audi looking. Thumbs up from me.

I sent the pictures to a mate at Honda R&D who worked on the current and previous Civic, suggesting that's what a medium sized, family hatch should look like. In the past he admitted that the current Civic would struggle due to its looks, but today reckoned the Golf 7 was "as dull as ditch water and far too conservative"

I know which one will still look good in 10 years time tho'.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Hmmm, well, I won't be rushing down to the showroom to order a mk7 but I do like the look of it so far.
The good news from a mk6 owner's point of view is that the looks are still pretty similar to the untrained eye so that means mk6 values shouldn't drop too suddenly as it still has the current family nose and arse end.
The 3 door mk7 looks loads better with the mk1 style window line. I never did like the mk5 3 door as it made a long car look too plump.
I'll pay close attention to what sort of prices the mk7 GTI/D comes in at and maybe get a few speculative prices from a dealer at launch to see if it's worthwhile but I don't think it's the giant leap people would have you believe seeing as the mk5 and mk6 are pretty accomplished cars anyway.
I still have a mk6 R itch to scratch... there's one been hanging around a dealer not too far from me for a while now... DSG too...

Anyway, cautious thumbs up from me for the mk7

To give an idea of what we may see?

BTW, pics of the 3 door are on VW.de configurator.

If the GTI/D variants are gonna look anything like this then it's a big thumbs up from me..

A Golf is a Golf whichever model, or however old it is and will always get the knowing nod of recognition from those who appreciate that. Most VW owners aren't the sort of people that must been seen to have the latest thing at whatever cost, so you'll do just fine in your Ed35 for many years to come.
