if it's like the one on the picture, they fit just fine.

easiest way to get it in is to remove the battery and battery tray totally, then it'll just slip in easily.

the end with the tab on goes down behind the headlight, and the tab goes under the chassis rail then bolts up with the rubber bobbin supplied, then the other end of the pipe should sit pretty much bang in line with your MAF, joined up with the coupler supplied.

Pretty much everyone with a 1.8T has fitted one of these kits when they first owned the car.

Dubber: loud recirc is totally normal with these fitted, so long as it's a woosh and not a chatter/flutter

Also, when you get yours fitted let me know how loud the recirv valve is. Mines extremely loud! Sounds like a dump valve. Anyone think its broken/cracked?
mine sounds the same .It sounds better cut down ,in half.

Cheers for the photos james. i can see how you've just managed to squeeze the filter down the side of the battery , hopefully mine fits there aswell.

still pretty lost with what half the stuff that came in the kit does like the smaller filter and the tubing but am hoping it will become clearer once i get the old stripped out.

despite it being a cheapo ebay kit it would have been nice to have some basic instructions. even chinese might have been helpful .

atleast im more confident it will fit now

i like the look of it cut down, i have mine full length but now tempted to do what you have done, is it the same standard filter on it that comes with the kit?
anyone who can or knows someone that can notch my chassis in south west area please message me!!

Heres what am looking at under the bonet.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

i can see now removing the old air box , old cold air tube and battery case cover that the cone should fit nicely down there cut or not.

the thing that is confusing me is this rippled pipe coming off the current air box. Is it some sort of breather pipe?
( havent bought a haynes yet).

There is smaller filter given with the kit and a length of rubber of tubing ( photo'd below)... the mystery tubing lol. is that to replace it?

(this probably isnt made up correctly , just threw parts together so it would stand better for a photo , im sure you can get the idea of what came in the kit though)

Looking at other peoples cold air feeds they dont have it at all but could this be down to the AGU and AUM engines?

"denni"  Its a different filter. I didnt like the cheap filter that came with it, they sell new for £9.99 on ebay. I still have the other half and a spare 70mm silicon joiner .So i can still run the filter down to the bumper. But it didnt sound as good or go as good down there.  :undecided:

Its not hard once airbox is removed. I loosened the battery and slide it over a bit .Placed alloy tube down by battery and connected it to maf .Then get under the car and put airfilter on it.
