mk4 gti 2.0 8v engine swap advice please

hi all, just bought a 2000 reg gti 2.0 8v and it dont go as well as i was hoping, so thinking about an engine swap to the 1.8 20 turbo, but what engine code as there seems to be loads of different ones , which would be the best for tuning mapping ect,??
dont think its worthy of the GTI badge vw seen fit so stick on the arse end,

You are better off selling the 2.0 gti car and buying a 1.8t. The mk4 turbo can be had for very handy money these days.

As above, sell up and buy a 1.8t, much more sense in the long run.
