There's some real 'pub' talk going on in here about the ITR's

Another ex owner here having had a Mugen modified JDM 96 spec DC2 and also the newer DC5.
The lightest model is the '96 spec DC2 with all delete options ticked...no abs/ac/radio/parcel shelf/clock which weighs in at 1060kgs, the UK model is a touch heavier at just over 1100kgs.
As for 290bhp, highly unlikely to be fair, you would really need to be looking at forced induction to get to those types of numbers...they seem to top out around 230ish with people having spent literally thousands and thousands of pounds on Mugen/Spoon and any other number of tuning houses.
They are a marmite car to drive as they are low on torque as has been mentioned but if you can keep them in VTEC they fly and are very rewarding to drive as has already been mentioned. Most of the appeal is that they can be driven at 95% everywhere as they are very easy to drive fast and exploit the chassis, they make an average driver like look Ayrton Senna

Definitely worth a drive if the opportunity is available, sadly the majority are now suffering at the hands of the dreaded tin worm and need some TLC, plus the market is full of absolute nails which have been badly maintained or badly modified undoing a lot of the development Honda put into the cars.
Absolutely adored mine, with the only car giving a similar amount of driver pleasure and excitement being my Clio Williams 1.
Straight line drags I am sure even some modern high powered diesels would give them a good run for their money, but find the twisties and they are a joy to drive, would love another at some point.
