I've rang a vag technician this morning and he thinks its a cv joint
Or joints. I said they were only replaced 18 months ago.
Could the garage who replaced my wishbones damaged them by leaving them
Hanging? If so because they said if I paid cash and supplied the
Wishbones there is no warranty. So if they have damaged them should they pay
For new ones?

generall if you supply the parts, no warranty is provided. id say its not the cv joints, they usually make a cracking sound and usually only when the wheels are turned.if the flywheel has started to fail it would be making a sound like a bag of bolts or a grumbling sound when pulling off and idling. dont think they knock. the only other thing i would say is maybe the other engine mounts, give em a good ol' lever.
as for when do you stop spending, it is up to you. my view is 'fix it and know its good or spend out on a new car and potentailly have other problems' i always fix it lol
i think i love you.....

Me and a mate re checked the Wishbone bolts and there was one bolt out of all of them
That was just slightly loose so we tightened it up solid. And took it for spin over speed bumps and a good run in all gears and no more knocking.  So the garage I took it to to check the joints
Obviously didn't check them at all. The vag tech said to see if it got worse then pry bar the joints
To see which one it could be.

So thank you guys for your help.
