i have a brand new ignition amp here with receipt if ya need 1  £45 posted

when my boost pipe used to pop off it gave a strong smell of petrol

i will keep that in mind 

i had another look with a torch.does not appear to be any splits or hoses off

and there does seam to be a slight misfire

When on boost an it hesitats or stutters it may be the ignition amp.
Take it off first clean off the face an connections try it again failing that buy Daz's and hes as geniune as it comes !

ignition amp playing up it will miss fire and sound like a retarded scooby. Dv playing up you wont get the hiss noise after letting off the gas you get a chatter/flutter noise. Boost leak from pipes ,look for a oily boost pipe (best look by intercooler).Spark plug gone ,you will be lucky to get out of second gear.  All these have no fault codes.  All happened to my 1999 AGU.  Timing out you get a fault code.  but it will be cam shaft sensor as r-tech found when mapping it.

got a spare agu maf aswell

i checked all the hoses and nothing 

borrowed a ignition amp and that solved it,so i i bought a new one from ecp 

the car is running better than ever 

next jobs are:- cam belt kit, oil and filter change and replace the rear bushes as they are making one hell of a clunking sound

and not to forget the noisy starter 

when will it end

As above check all plugs and hoses etc and just have a good look around everything, and the bottom boost pipes from the inter cooler etc. Could try leaving ur battery disconnected overnight as well to reset the ecu? Anythings worth a try

always good having a mate with an AGU, easy to swap bits around lol
