Top mounts probably need doing - how long can I leave them for?

I think my top mounts need doing as I'm on coil-overs and am getting a bit of a creaking noise through the steering (mounts are also sitting 'high' and have been told this is a sign).

However, as I'm a bit short of funds right now how long can I leave it until I get them done? Am I running any risk of damaging the car or is it unsafe like this? Thanks.

It's not a job I'd be able to do myself, no tools, no time, no garage, no experience with this job, hence having /preferring to pay a mechanic.

Best to get them done ASAP as they will only get worse and fail. Anyway instead of paying a garage buy a set of spring compressors and do them yourself as it really is an easy job and put aside half a day next weekend to do the job. You wont need half a day but leave yourself plenty of time so you dont have to rush.

Mine 'sit high' and creak and they are brand new..
