Not sure. Last week I had a call asking if I could go sort names, addresses, and give them my retention document for my private plate. Whilst i was there they asked if I could pay before the end of the month to help with their figures.
After an hour of extra negotiations I agreed to pay the balance the next day (against all advice admittedly, but a friend at home who is a good solicitor has said I'm not legally at risk). Car will be delivered Thurs/Fri (tomorrow)
Today just had a phone call to say there is a backlog of VW's to be trasnported from port of entry, so it's still in Grimsby. Delivery will be next weds.
Few problems now. I've paid, I'm without a vehicle from Sunday as my brother's having my Leon and needs a vehicle, the Golf is booked in to be VentureShielded on Tuesday and the company only do one car a day, and I fly to Russia on wednesday with work. After a stern warning that I'll be having my money back, the dealer said he'll call later.
Now I'm starting to worry. They have my retention document (which they need to put my plate on) and as the plate came off my Leon, in my name, registered to my address; the nominee section (which entitles someone to the plate) stay's blank as the Golf details will be the same. But as far as I know there's not actually anything to stop the dealer from putting their name in the nominee area (I do have a photocopy signed with the blank nominee area but still)
If the dealer are being this sh!tty then this is starting to concern me, I was offered more than 3 times what the car's worth for the plate recently
I'm swinging by on my way home from work. Any customers in there when I get there won't be sealing deals if I don't get good answers!
P.s will name and shame (if allowed on here?) unless sorted satisfactorily.
