Slightly hesitant at low speeds.
« on: 01 July 2012, 08:30 »
Not sure if it is normal or if I am being paranoid but I get the feeling my car ( manual 2010 GTi ) is slightly hesitant at town driving speeds.

It feels as though it's just hesitating ever so slightly when on light throttle at low speed.

Running through full rev range up to higher speeds, feels fine and smooth, and fuel economy seems good.

Any thoughts? I will ring dealer tomorrow to have a look, but don't want to be finding issues which aren't there if this is an inherent characteristic of this engine around town?

Your thoughts and input would be appreciated.

Thanks

I had a similar prob with my A3. Turned out to ge a problem with soot build up? Google search for DPF regeneration and see if this helps. I may be well off but worked for me.

Could be a number of things or nothings.
It could just be the way its learned your driving style
Or
Spark plugs
Fuel pump
Diverter valve

Also try 3rd gear at 30 mph then foot down does it hesitate slightly

Mk6 GTI  &  Mk1 GTI
34 years of GTI ownership.

The car does a lot of short journeys so sounds possible, and is also why we steered away from the GTD as I know this no good for DPF's.

No hesitation with 3rd gear from 30 either, I suspect it could be me being paranoid as I only drive it once a week with the rest of the time in my Leon FR derv.

Will keep an eye on it and see if it deteriorates and have asked my wife, to monitor, albeit she hadn't noticed an issue.

Also had the dv valve at back of mind as I know it was a bg issue for the mkv's, is it worth upgrading to the later stronger variant as a precautionary measure?

Thanks

just take it for a diagnostic mate, it'll save you all the mind-upsetting thought

I have noticed this also in my 2009 man GTI (low mileage),the bite on the clutch in first gear when driving around car parks can also be a bit fierce at times ,i have had it checked and the dealer  never found  anything wrong ,never get any warning lights
Golfgti build quality is average at best.
