ignition switch? shear bolt?

i have a few electrical issues. which have been talked about in a previous post of mine. i have been told that it could possibly be solved by buying and fitting a new ignition switch. after buying one and then reading the haynes manual to see how to fit it it says about fitting a new shear bolt in the steering column. i gather this is designed to only be fitted once? where can i get one of these bolts? anyone replaced their igniton switch?

Or if you carefull you can remove the old one with a pair of mole grips.

replace with a normal bolt

or you can buy the sheer type at the dealers for a pence..

cheers fellas. i might be more tempted to just follow the haynes manual and try with the mole grips. but will have another read through and see how much more complicated it is. or if i can get another bolt i might try that. i take it theres no part number for something like that?

When I was fitting my heated seat loom I noticed mine was literally half way unthreaded and very loose. Obviously as it had no hex head on it to tighten I simply swapped it with another normal bolt so I could do it up properly which instantly resolved my wobbly column.
This said I'm not sure whether it'll still do its job in a crash as its more than likely the wrong grade steel.
