1989 8v gti powersteering??

other then mk2 golfs will any other same age vw racks and set ups fit the mk2 at all? missis wants the mk2 and im getting a t4 but she wants power steering any information would be greatly appreciated

You'll need a power steering column as well, as the u.j connections differ from pas to non-pas. I'm told mk3 pas rack mates to mk3 pas column also, but the mk3 column will be no good in the mk2. Best of going for a mk2 setup I reckon, and gotta sort out the barrel/key issue as well. I'm using the 16v donor car key for ignition, and 1.3 key for rest of body, as mine was non-pas but used all 16v donor car setup. That's what I know about the setups from my experience..

ah right ok, thanks for the advice and help, much appreciated mate, just spoke to a mate who owned the car a few owners ago who i keep getting mk2 bits off and was talking about the gear box i bought off him is like new, ( 56k its done) and mentioned the power steering next to find he has a complete set up bar the resivour bottle mount lol at £40 i couldnt say no to the set up

You only need the uj  and the boot not the whole column.

Really? I'm sure I had to swap the lot when going from 1.3 non pas to 1.8kr pas. Remember realising the uj didn't fit on rack, then the other u.j not fitting to column hence swapping both?

When doing mine i realised i should of put the uj on the rack before i bolted the rack into position because it was damn tight going on. It did go on with some persuasion.

well thank you again guys for the help. will have to see what acually comes in the box when i get it on friday, but from the sounds of it its everything that i will need
