For an 88 you should have blackred or bluegreen check also available was leather and recaros...

Never seen that one...

Dubber36 is the one I would have expected to be fitted or the Blue & Yellow version depending on car colour & Spec Ordered...

These were the seats in my old 89 8V if that's any help,

Same seats as my 90 8v too, my driver's seat damaged though, I'll need to see if I can get the material repaired

I bought another set of seats for about £80 and got a local trimmer to make both sets into one good one for me.

I paid 50quid for a full set of seats and door cards, with no bolster wear or damage at all, totally mint. Its grey black and red, and the cars a 1991, so apparently wouldn't have been original. Not bothered though as the car was 1.3 originally, so nothings original anymore, and I'd rather pay a decent price for a decent set, than over the odds for a 'correct' but probably more knackered set.. If I were you I'd go on condition vs price, than being goverened by a colour..

cheers for the advice, think ill look for a bit for the original patterned seats then just go for some good condition ones, the rainbow seats seem to pop up alot! How do you upload a pic?? want to see if anyone can tell me what the seats are from that are in my golf, i dont think their from a golf at all!!!

How much, roughly, is getting a trimmer to fix it, I realise it depends on the damage, just wondered if it's worth getting that done rather than buying another seat, I've not got a lot ofe damage just a couple of holes,

To repair them, a trimmer will need some good material to replace the worn through stuff. What are your foams like? The drivers side may not be as firm as it should be, so stretching new material over them will not give the best results.

From memory, I paid about £100 to have mine done, plus the £80 for the donor seats. If it's a case of just swapping the covers over, if you take your time it's easy enough to do yourself. My original seats had worn bolsters and the donor seats had fag burns, so both sets had to be unpicked, then the good bits from each set re-sewn back together to make one good one.

thanks, the bolsters and seat interior are fine it's just a couple of holes on the right hand side bolster material, however the previous owner has put a couple of black leather patches over them, it looks a bit mad although I've kind of got used to it now, it gives it character haha,

I'd thought of trying to replace the seat but your idea about the trimmer seems better

If the foams are good, then swapping the covers is quite easy.
