I went to ALA

£119 3 years return to invoice - Dealer couldn't get anywhere near - he said he'd match it but when I told him the price he said somehting like "you've got a good price - we're nowhere near that"

edit: forgot to mention (as Mike. has) that with Quidco I also got somehting like another £20-25 off that price

As above, it's well worth having IMHO on a GTi or R.

Both are quite "nickable" cars, yet you pay no extra premium for GAP insurance than a similar priced Mondeo

Most GAP insurance companies do exclude mods though.

Also remember a lot of insurance companies provide back to invoice on the first year of the cars life so defer your GAP to start at the end of the first year.

In my experience return to invoice GAP insurance is a must, my mk5 was written off in the floods in 07 car was nearly 3 years old, car policy paid me 14k and gap insurance made up the difference to 24.5k what I paid for it, Best £199 I have ever spent

Shop around and get return to invoice gap  I think there are a few different types tho ?

Ive had it on my last 3 cars and never had to claim but always had to confidence that in an accident if the insurance company pays up 10k and the car is worth 15k then I wont be out of pocket.

The only car I didnt take it out on I totalled and lost alot of money as I had spent alot of money making it as new.  Happy to have it over the few years it covers and if I dont claim then its a bonus, if I have to claim then I win.
