Octavia vRS ftw, getting cheap these days, they are well spec'd with 180bhp as standard.

If you really want a Golf mk3 it has to be a 16v

Most people with 8v's tend to put a thread up a week after buying it asking how to get more power, I had one for a while and yes it was ok but not that quick and poor on fuel.

I'm quite happy with what little power mine has and the 8v is still very 'driveable' and its very good indeed on fuel...but...BUT, this argument goes on forever so i would say if you have the cash get a nice 16v or even a VR if it's a weekend toy.

Ive had a few 8v's and not been disappointed. Id have always preferred a 16v though.

Go for any mk3 over any other mk4 unless its an R32.  :cool:
