Alignment is totally out !
« on: 23 May 2012, 19:28 »
Is there a point of getting the steering alignment done, if im going to drop the coil's all the way down again ? My steering wheel is out of alignment, and and automatically more to the left hand side, as if im turning it. Some garage told me, if i wind the coils back up and get it all aligned, the alignment may be lost if i drop the car back down on the coils ?

is there a point taking the risk and getting it done if this is the case ?

see im lucky enuff to work in a garage and my golf is on its arse lol and all i done was took the top of the Tracking gauge off ( the bit the is surposed to go on the top of the tyre) and cable tied to the wheel and i rang around a few mates and all said the same thing aslong as all 3 points on the gauge are on the sidewall of the tyre or edge of the rim itself its fine,i done it and it is perfect but get the camber adjusted aswell.

so any garage should be able to do this, if i explain it to them... the technique that you used  ??

lol that's true, i do have a mate who owns a garage, seen as he will be doing the exhaust, splitter and welding, il ask him if he can do the camber adjustments and sort the rest of it all out.  cant wait to get the gti back on the road. its going to look mean ... very excited
