This isn't my car - it's on my brothers Golf. If it was mine i'd just jump in, likely break the parts & then just buy replacements. As i'll be working on someone elses car, i'm always more weary of breaking something.
Basically there's a couple jobs...
JOB #1
I'm fitting a new headunit with bluetooth external mic from the rear. I plan on running this to the passenger side. I'm told there's a plastic flap on the side of the dash i can feed the wire out of "similar to the fuse flap on the drivers side" ...... yet i can't see it.
That aside, i then plan on running the wire up behind the A-pillar & this is the thing ........ how do you remove it?
Just pull on it i'm told. Yes, but if you try to open a door on the hinges side, then you're 1) and idiot & 2) it wont happen.
So where do you pull on it? Start yanking at the top? The windscreen side? The other side? The bottom? Basically i want to avoid snapping/bending/breaking.
And then re-fitting? Which i'm assuming will become apparent once off.
JOB #2
I was measuring up the interior bulbs for replacing with LEDs. Got them all down - under the sun visor, the map lights, the boot light, the glovebox light.
Just need to pop out the lights next to the rear grab handles. Only thing is, the buggers wont pop out. They probably do, but they get to that stage where you think they may break.
I've tried levering from the top - the roof side, the bottom of the lense, i've tried from both ends of the lense but it just wont pop out. I don't want to pop it out at the wrong side & then end up breaking clips.
Something stupid - but which side should you be levering from as these buggers seem stuck fast - the pair of them.
