Personally I would have liked to see him stay. Managers become the fall guys far too often for poor player performances.
There is only so much you can do from the touch line..
Yes, people will say the new signings didnt deliver, but how many would have thought that those players could play so poorly after a relatively good season last year. We needed those players, and therfore they would always walk into the team.
You need to make every player fight for their respective position. Something demonstrated very well by fergie this season by dropping rooney/young/berba/nani all without explanation. I dont really like the guy but as a manager hes up there with the best and commands that respect that all managers should have from their players.
