so welcome to my project page for my 96 mk 3 red 8 valve gti.

baught it in 2009 for the sum of £550 with 120k on it fsh and spare set of alloy wheels.

so this is the only pic i can seam to find from ages ago, as you can see pretty standard,
first job was cam belt water pump, aux belt, power stearing belt, ball joints, shocks and springs.

kept it all standard as was my daily drive back then, after 6 months decided to change wish bones and brakes had a night mare with a spinning bolt on the wish bone in to sub frame ended up with sub frame out and cutting it with propane torch not the best way i know but did the job.
not much was replaced for a good 15 months after that then baught a 1.8t passat so the golf could get a make over so when it ran out of mot it went into mu garage and stayed there till a couple of weeks ago when i moved house with a bigger garage and more space.

this is a pic of the car just before it went in to the garage panal filter, cold air feed, and twin hellas were the only extra bits done apart from rim swap as the long beaches had paint flaking

so in the last 2 weeks i have taken the front wings off as the dredded rot took its tole

first pic took with wing off
welding needed to sill and small area of floor looks like its hit a curb or something at some point didnt think much of it before wish i had now

pic after a bit of a clean and the other side is pretty much the same but does not need welding to sill or floor

while cleaning found this bit of surface rust have treated it for now will weld a plate in there at some point
so as you can see coilovers have been fitted this was my next job as managed to pick up  tuning art coilovers, milltec with de cat, 2 forzsa 2000s, which i need road legal runners for PLEASE HELP cant find any, strut  brace, engine wiring looms, dizzys, hall sensor, and a few other bit for £225 real bargin.

ok so some pics of the car now on coilovers

so this is as far as i have got so far as have 3 kids and work loads but will be doing more as soon as i can it does need a real good clean though as you can see from the pics .

so run to the sun over back off holiday and back to work    have done a few bits to the gti though milltec is fitted slight leak but will be coming off again when the engine and box come out, front bumper is off again also the slam panal took the bonnet off tonight to get a bit more space and light to work with.

have also been playing with some paint never been the best with it but am quite impressed with the results so far have done the vw badge from the standard grill, air intake which i stupidly decided to put in the front bumper ages ago but will be re loacating when new bumper is ere also crank breather cover there all done in satin black with a red which can only be decribed as [ spit ] once the laptop stops being a thingy will upload some pics let me know what you guys and gals think.

things to come once the money is avalible

front bumper
front wings
twin fan slam panal
new head lights
more painting
new clutch
lightened and ballanced fly wheel
gear box rebuild
finaly get the new seats fitted
and decide what to do with the motor
thats as far as the list goes for now and not going to happen over night
will post pics soon
