Nah, 185-55-15's Ken.

As well as retaining anal information like that, I've got a folder full of every single receipt for my car. Every single tyre it's had has been that size.

I stand corrected....

Just checker the pressure sticker on mine...

Never seen 'em fitted to any of the cars I've had all been 195-50-15's

You are all very right and I am indeed, very stupid, don't know what was going through my head when I measured the lip aswell, 6x 15 like every other g60 steel, I'll get onto ordering the tyres, 185-55-15 i take it. Then run a pintstripe in red enamel round the edge with a nifty pinstriping tool I bought a few years back and haven't used. Then I'll post you all a picture and maybe start a thread specifically for my car
Thanks for all the help and tolerance of stupidity.

We all have mental block moment's so don't worry...

I would price up both 185-55-15 & 195-50-15's as I think you'll find there is a big difference in price and choice....

This is worth a read... http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=227493.0

185/55 is oe size but due to costs, most people switch to 195/50's

Will probably go for the 195 50s then, or 195 60s????? If they fit. The thread about tyres was interesting but also an incredibly inconclusive debate about toyos or old pirelli tyres and people with poorly balanced brakes. Any suggestions on a tyre thats good value and is good in the wet, last more than 3000 miles etc and fun to drive on, dont mind £80 a corner if they're good, I've driven my mini on a set of remoulds was dreadful so I'm all for good tyres.

go and talk to a few tyre dealers and see what they have to offer & make an informed descion from there - It's your money spend it wisely....

195 50'S  for deffo. ive been in the tyre game for 16yrs and have fitted them to mine. You guys are right as to 185 55's being fitted as standard although 195 50's were offered as an upgrade.
