i thought it would be obvious that a FMIC would be better at cooling than a SMIC.

no matter how good the flow rates are...infact i would have thought that those SMIC which are like cubes would create more lag due to being deep. think of it like running a hose. That's why the TT twin side mounts with a cross pipe work well as standard and efficient for the levels as they gradually cool the air from to the other not all in one go in a deep cube shaped intercooler.

anyway FMIC has a long contact area against cold wind, a SMIC has a very small contact area... Therefore what Nick's found on the thousands of cars hes tuned seems right.

think it also depends on the fmic setup the cheap ebay kits can cause a lot of heat soak due to the pipe set up which then causes turbo lag which then makes your car down on power etc


 i drive a golf thats why im skint!!!!


losing interest in the golf and now not so skint !!!!!

tobys car had an ebay intercooler and made 304, from what's been said the flow rates in them are fine.

yes but he had a load of other mods to back it up not just a stage one on a k03 and the cooler was 3 times the size of the tiny ones on ebay  :grin:
