It I think it's pathetic if I'm honest

Rhys, how difficult is it to change over? i.e. and cover your ears nolandubholmes change it back to standard beore the mot.

Very.  You have 4 sensors; two pre-DPF and two post; all of which remain in place and are very sensitive to being moved about

I as a mot manager QC tester NT and dubbed would happily pass a car with its dpf removed and until they bring in a fail criteria of a dpf removed that was fitted as standard Id say it's passible

but you have already posted

That's a grey area now due to I pass them but a vosa official near me failed one due to another change stating a new rfr in the holy manual saying a cat missing that was fitted as standard !! It's a dpf as far as I'm concerned if it passes its emissions I'm happy !

so they have already been failed.

by a VOSA official, which to me is a higher authority than you as they set the rules do they not  :undecided:

someone reads you post, then spanks a fortune doing a DPF delete then it fails the mot ...................................

yes he failed a diesel scirocco for having a full stainless it was mapped to death but he was more pissed off about the ecssesive smoke but one of the rfrs was cat removed now this is the thing yes vosas is higher but it's very rare that they will test your car they've either got to be doing roadside tests which they do or a site assessment check the guy that got done for it didn't need a test but drove round everywhere like a dick so vosa and the police got involved so I'd say uve got a super slim chance of vosa checking ur car

After a visit from vosa today (site inspection) I asked the question is a dpf removed a pass or a fail he said it is a pass and advise it is not a cat therefore can't be failed under the cat missing rule he then said it will eventually go on but not to expect it anytime soon it with the MOT scheme as a whole has recently changed hands contract wise from Siemens to atoz and they want to shake the whole thing up even more with the prospect of a Europe wide recognized test basically it's aload of graduate engineers having a cake and arse party not knowing what the hell there doing so get those dpf removed all u want just a little point the CAT missing rule took then 10 years to put in so u can see how fast they work ha

Here's my answer from VOSA

From an MOT perspective a compression ignition (diesel) engine must meet
the specific emission limits as prescribed in the Private Passenger and
Light Commercial Vehicle Inspection Manual (IM). Particulate filters are
not part of the MOT. However, particulate filters are, as their name
implies, fitted to filter out particulates (soot) in the exhaust gases and
as a method to meet current emission requirements. It is possible that
removing the particulate filter may affect engine performance and it's
ability to meet the relevant emission requirements.

However any body removing an emissions component should consider that the
vehicle may have been type approved to certain level which includes the DPF
and that it's removal could contravene.

a diesel scirocco doesnt have a cat as well.. it has a dpf same for all the vw range in cars they have a dpf or cat, they still run clean with them off, if you try and do a normal smoke test on a car with a dpf most of the time it wont even pick up youve reved it as they put that little emissions  out
