done mine on car with course sandpaper going softer grades each time to remove marks, then went over with a polishing wheel on a drill with hard bar brown compound then finished with solvol autosol polish did this twice as first time i got a bad back and had to stop, pleased with results now though even more so i have engine covers on now.
when i bought it and hated the oxidised look.
first go at doing it but back gave up and had to stop, looks good from a distance but could see sanding marks when looking close.
and second go after painting my covers in 2 pack paint and getting new badges and clips and wife painting the letters for me.

thanks guys the colour i chose from a colour chart just random as i liked it, and turns out to be an old vw colour cliff green which suprised me but i love it, not to everybodys taste but on a black car i think it looks the nuts and is under the bonnet so not everyone see's it but suprises people when i pop the bonnet.
