I have the late model mk2 1.6 Driver (1990), runs fine, drives really well, very nippy for a 1.6!
Totally standard at the moment apart from an aftermarket rev counter and an uprated lighting loom that I bought from Dizzie.
Best insurance quote for me was from First Alternative £814 for a new driver 0 NCB and I thought that was very reasonable for a 22 year old! Hell my lil bro pays double that on a 1.4 escort and he's 20!

To put it quite simply, something to get about in!

I'm hooked on Minis, but unfortunely my current Mini is showing it's everyday use with rust popping up everywhere. I didn't know it was as bad as it was until now when it's coming into Summer, and as my insurance is up in August, and I might have a free garage, I figured it would be the perfect oppertunity to store the Mini away and use it as my project. Therefore, I'd need another car to do the job of getting me around!

..And because I'm a picky bugger I won't have any old 'run around'! I want something cool and classic, and I've always had an eye for the Mk2 Golf. I'd also like to get into the VW scene as later on down the line a Camper and Beetle would definately take my interest!

Anyhow, spare the story, I also have a thing for 5 door lowered big bumper Golf with roof rails!

Thanks for the insurance recommendations people. Unfortunely insurance for us youngsters over here (Northern Ireland) is crazy, and I'm still collecting a list of insurance companies that I will be giving a bell later on in the month. Also trying to work a way around getting insurance on one of my cars, so that I can still drive the other, but thats not looking so sweet at the moment! At the end of the day, even though the Mini will be my project, that doesn't mean I want to keep it locked away, it's there to drive so weekend Mini trips is my goal!

Why don't I just buy another Mini? Because I don't have the money to fork out on something decent (have you seen the price of them lately!?), and living just 4 miles off the coast it'll be the same story all over this time next year!
