Nice - this side of 100mph how did it feel vs the GTI?

I've had 2 996s but both have been the 3.4 (one C4 and then a C2) - be interested to hear your thoughts.

GTI?   I don't have a GTI.........Or do you mean in terms of general performance? Which GTI? Although it wont matter as the Porsche will walk all over it and it should do with over 100bhp more to start with

In all honesty its the first Porsche I've ever been in and I'm an instant fan   The way it just grips and goes is simply astonishing   I can see why they get such rave reviews.

Always worried when mapping N/A cars as the gains aren't massive compared to a turbo'd car but the owner was very happy with the results, commenting that the throttle was sharper and there was an extra shove in the back.  He certainly drives it properly; long term average is 19mpg

Sorry, thought you had a GTI !

I got bored with the 996, the 996 is tail happy but I was never a good enough driver to get the back out and keep it under control - a lot of people seem to get fun from doing this which could explain my feelings towards it.

The feedback from the steering was great and it give a great sense of occassion, but the numbers ramp up on the speedo and it never felt "fast" to me as it was so smooth and eventually I went back to the E46 M3.

Still great cars though.
