MK5 GTI, ED30, R32. Which one?

It's 07 so it cant be an Editon 30, but who cares i want them seats and that bodykit !

They made ed30's from nov 06 ? And I own a 56 plate eddy?  That's incorrect

Well i thought was only from 08 my bad, it says in the adverty Edition 30 spec and i see no Edition 30 badge so i assumed, i don't want to go ringing anyone until i have the money ready to go, plus in the 3-4 weeks between now and then that perfect car might come along.

Out of interest does anyone know of a company that does ED30 bodykits seat replacements and the like ?

Ed30 every time. I couldnt ever  justify the weekly upkeep on an R32

i know what you are saying jeynesey but the Ed30 is quite a lot more expensive to buy to start with.
What are the big differences then? I know the eddys are more powerful and looks wise but isnt the suspension etc the same for handling etc?

More power, Bigger turbo, different wheels, different front splitter, rear bumper, cosmetic changes inside including the beautiful seats 

Its much more tunable than the gti due to the Ko4.

I am looking for a nice 3dr mk5 for £8-10,000. I originally wanted the R32 with DSG but have realised that the fuel usage and tax band are just crazy!
I like the look of the ED30 as it comes with the higher spec than the GTI and i would be happy to drive that as is where as the GTI might need a bit of modding / colour coding to get it how i want it.
What are peoples thoughts on these cars and which one would be the best alrounder and what are the main common faults with any of them?

Right, first of all I would say the R32 is straight out the window unless you're literally rolling in cash. Yes they are very fast and sound amazing and have a really strong engine but the road tax is £445 or something, MPG is terrible due to the thirsty 3.2 V6 and they really aren't a car for today with the price of fuel soaring, I think it's something you would regret. The Edition 30 isn't that far behind the R32 for much more reasonable running costs. The running costs on the Edition 30 are also close to the standard GTI anyway.

If it was me, I would go for the GTI Edition 30 hands down, in red! It's the best performance/running costs ratio. Looks amazing, sounds amazing, drives amazing. What more could you need.

Edition 30 has a bigger turbo (K04 - Amazing  ), more BHP, can get close to if not exceed 300BHP if tuned. Cosmetic differences are bigger front splitter and very nice red stiched leather seats and steering wheel which look amazing, 18" wheels instead of 17", if you can get the black monza's on the red Edition 30 they are  Smoked rear headlight glass like the R32, the GTI might have these too i'm not actually sure! Oh and a little discreet Edition 30 badge on the back of your car to make you look cool.  Oh and as you asked about the suspension, the Edition 30 is lowered so it will just do everything better basically.

You will most definitely feel the difference between the 2. Is around a second quicker in the 0-60MPH sprint too.

Go for the Edition 30!
