Yeah it's not too bad. £150ish for the bits plus a day of swearing.

Yours may need a DMF at those miles as well, what ever you do, don't replace it with a solid kit.

Had a chat with a couple of boys on the mg forums and in 300 + clutch changes they'd only seen 1 DMF needing replacement. I will check it but they reckon they're good for 200k unless utterly a utterly abused. I'll be changing the CSC as well.

Seen a few fail at low miles as well, check it and see how much play it has got but I did see one of the guys on the 75 club check his and it was withen spec then 2 days later it failed.

Good luck with it, I have pm'd you a good link on the easier way of replacing it.

Price dependent it's worth doing anyway.

Obviously if it's 600 quid or something stupid then it's worth the chance.

Where all my moneys went.

New clutch is a good excuse for a cheek remap!

I should have update dthis the other week.

Clutch all done and working. Not the most technical job in the world but a total PITA for things being fiddly, hard to reach, like tetris to disassemble etc etc. It also had a boost hose clip with a penchant for biting that left Chris with an arm like a self harming emo. Huge thansk to Chris for his help and Marcus for the use of the workshop for the day. The clutch is now pretty savage in it's engagement comapred to the old one but settlign in nicely with a good bite point and feel on the peddle. Here's to the next 130,000 miles. Total cost for parts, sundries, tea, workshop space etc was £220 so a godo saving over the cheapest quote of £800.

In other MG related news it's been a trooper in Snowmageddon and got me where I needed to be with no drama or fuss in warm and comfort.

Good result with the clutch and one hell of a saving against the quotes

Thats an excellent saving! It just goes to show how much you can save if you are prepared to get your hands dirty!

I need to remember that fact as Ive recently started just paying people to do jobs cos I cant be arsed haha.

Cars looking good in the snow anyway, mine and a ZT were the only cars I saw on the road on sunday night when we had a massive downfall here.

Well here we are with nearly 12 months and 20,000 miles in my "care" and it's just had the MOT which it passed........just.

To sum up the first 12 months? Cracking. It survived everything I've thrown at it, proved reliable, comfortable and generally a pleasure to own. In the 12 months I've had to replace the original batter, 2 bulbs and the clutch which along with a service totals £390 and it's averaged 49mpg over that period. Not bad.

The MOT threw up no surprises with me needing to replace the rear pads, sort out the handbrake and throw some new boots on it in the next month or so.

Here's hoping for another 12 months of low cost and comfy motoring.
