aum TIP? is it worth getting?
« on: 12 March 2012, 16:46 »
Hi thinking about getting a remap soonish :undecided: :lipsrsealed:
and read alot about the turbo intake pipes. Is it worth replacing?

Also how much is a fair price to pay for one?

found this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK4-1-8T-20V-SILICONE-TURBO-INTAKE-PIPE-AUM-AUQ-/160737623963?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item256cb57f9b#ht_1890wt_1037

had a sneaky idea, going to new york next week could i get one over there cheaper? lol

it doesnt add bhp as such.. if remapping the car a silicone tip is stronger and will not collapse under the extra presure as opposed to the flimsy standard one it is worth getting one before map and the one you have linked to is good there are a lot of ppl using them including myself its summat along them lines anyway  and it goes from your maf to your turbo mate thats why its called a tip... turbo intake pipe  if you want a pipe from your smic to tb you want a boost kit as well as the tip

with the aum the oem metal tip is thinner where it enters the turbo as there is a solid coolant pipe that runs along right next to it which cant be moved as its attached to the coolant flange and is also bolted to the block, so if fitting a silicone tip it gets squashed against this pipe and isnt any bigger than the oem metal piece. When fitting a silicone tip to my remapped aum I noticed zero difference
