Well as its in the engine bay not much if any water should get near it, the ones behind the bumper I am aware of the water issues.....
mine is sitting next to the battery.

I'll lightly oil it  :wink:

ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

might move mine to the engine bay make a heat sheild for it then and duct cold air to it

Not true you can run the risk of messing up your maf this is due to people over oiling the cone if you coat it light and clean it every 3 to 4 mths like i do i have seen no problems and heaps of people run cones without any problems..... porwer wise it has been proven though bud panel filter and r32 intake pipe is the way to go though bud... but on the v6 the note is just to good!!
Totally agree with the noise mate, I must have had bad experiences with cones then, last one I had was a metal gauze filter which didn't need oiling and it still ruined it! Each to their own tho  :smiley:

I'm running a filter in the bumper, I trimmed the pipe by 2 inches and been running it for a year and no water problems, I think your have to find yourself in a deep puddle to do damage obviously it sucks up sparky but that won't do anything as it has to run through a red hot turbo and an intercooler before getting into your engine

I had back to back power runs done with a panel filter and no filter at all, same result

I had the cone filter by the bumper but got scared of it sucking up water so moved it to behind the battery. I made a heat shield out of a champange bucket, insulation and some heat reflective material. Then used the old pipe to make a cold air feed from the bumper.





Dont have to worry about water now, will get a good cold air feed and the shield cost me about £15 to make.  :smiley:
