er, will a gearbox from a 89 1.8 8v Digifant fit onto a 85 1.8 8v Kjet engine?

Any help would be great, my drive flange has fused to the gearbox when it ceased.

Now I need to change the box :-(

1987 Mk2 GTi 8v. Full strip out. LUKE harnesses. Drilled Airbox. 14" BBS. Slammed on Coilovers.? Plastic arches fell off. Side of splitter hanging. Weight reduction by 'Rust Motorsport'

ive just has a gearbox put on my car from a F reg i think n that fit to ym 8v digi
n the engine looked nothing like mine

great stuff, thats made me feel a little better...

Does anyone know for sure, im really quite desperate as I have no car for work at the moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The gearboxes that you are describing should be interchangeable as long as they are both 020 boxes and both from 8V GTI mk2s   .

But just to note:

       The very very  early mk2s had a different reverse lamp switch which is the same as the mk1 GTI

thats the problem i hav no reverse lights at the mo coz switch is different
gettin one soon though
