I had a few scratches on mine and just polished them out with a machine polisher and some Menzerna polish.

They came up like new

Yep, me too (a few years ago) ... it's definitely worth doing if it's bugging you.

Was the wheely bin plastic ?  if so it'll be more of a scuff than a scratch, so should polish out quite easily

... and then give them a good seal

it the meguiars very abrasive? will it dull the lacquer finish?

i have a similar mar on my wheel i think from a grain of grit while washing the wheels as it circular. its very faint but can be seen hen the right light is on it

The Meguiars is very mild, I use it to remove occasional minor marks from the paintwork, it leaves a glass smooth finish and removes virtually no paint.

i will try some SRP first as its not abrasive but fills imperfections and if it doesn't work will try the swirlX stuff

The autoglym paint renovator may work as well as scratch x as I used both to remove bird lime marks on my cars roof and liked the autoglym stuff. srp has little to no cutting action in it its more a.filler.

tried the SRP today and it made a very slight improvement but very little.

TBH the scratch is so slight its barley noticeable anyway so won't risk using an abrasive polish.

I am not sure there are many worse feelings (death and your team getting relegated apart) then when you hear that first scrape on an immaculate alloy wheel....truly heart breaking.

I wouldnt touch it mate, in my experience, makes it worse. True, there are experts who can refurb, but if its only small, I would wait until the next time.. (and there will be one!)
Or your team could be in the brink of liquidation!!!

Done mine on Sunday with some AG polish and came up like new, you do still see some light scratches on close inspection but all in all a lot better  the black on the monzas was starting to look a little dull and tired looking also before polishing them from a harsh winter!

I'm with Mike here.
My garage severely scratched all the spokes on one of my diamond cut Vancouver Alloys. I thought I had nothing to lose so got the orbital polisher out with some Menzerna polish and they came up like brand new.
I wouldn't hesitate in doing it again. After all its just the lacquer that is being polished.

@kennyGTI, from a fan that goes home and away and Europe, stick in there mate. Its tough times but we'll get through it and hopefully come out the other side a lot stronger.
