If you've not driven a gti-6 before you cannot comment beacause honestly the mk4 golf handles worst then my 04 megane ! It reallly does handle terrible theres no other words.

Just watch that video of Clarkson and you'll realize the 306 is the best drivers car! Not saying better all round beacause the golf pulls that one off with the interior and build quality but IMO thats all

mate get what you want only you can make your own mind up but a good mapped 1.8t is the way forward i love dropping type r civics  and they go pretty well

The 306 looks crap, damm right ugly car in my opinion,peugeot hasnt made a decent looking car since the 205 1.9 gti. Youll get far more respect driving a golf (as long as its not been chaved up).

I really lime the shape of 306's, they look realy good when a bit of money has been spent on them, just like golfs. Golfs look terrible standard but a drop and some wheels sorts that out. I say the 306 would be a fun car but a mapped 1.8t has more potential

As Rhyso said lots of cars are 'better' than a MK4 Golf. It depends what YOU want from the car.
A ford focus of the same year will handle better standard over standard. Loads of cars are faster.

For normal road driving the mk4 is fine, its no track car in standard form but how fast are you driving on the road?

If you have to ask 'should I keep it' then its obviously the wrong car for you and I say sell it and buy a car you want  / does what you want it to.
