Mouse under bonnet
« on: 26 February 2012, 18:09 »
Went to check my oil this morning and found a small hole in the heat shield and some mouse droppings and heat shield fibres on top of the engine cover.  I can only assume a mouse slept under my bonnet last night!  I gave it all a good vacuum this afternoon and have crossed my fingers that Mr. mouse doesn't come back tonight.

Has anyone else had experience of this problem?  Cheers

Its only when i looked at the back I  noticed

Well it seems that the mouse is coming back each night and sleeping in my bonnet insulation!  The small hole in the insulation has since become a rather large one, and all the fibres are spewing out over my engine plus there are more mouse droppings!  It looks like im going to have to buy a new one.

Does anyone know how much I would be looking at paying for said item, where to get one from and are they easy to fit?  Any help would be appreciated.  Cheers

Won't the mouse just do the same to the new one? I think you need to find a way to stop the mouse coming back. Are you able to park somewhere else? I'd also keep an eye on your electrical insulation as mice are known to eat it (do a search on Google), and that could be much more expensive than a new bonnet insulation pad!

build the mouse a nice little cardbord house somewhere near your car.. complete with hot water bottle and cheese with a little bottle feed of water. this way you can be 100% sure it is a mouse before you stamp on the little fcuker whilst he is sleeping. The cardboard will ensure there is minimal mess also.
