Mods for better mpg

I've got a pipercross panel Filter only done about 2500 miles if you want it. Might improve mpg but don't know if they are noticeable. £22 posted


Like said best way is to change driving style but also try pumping tyres up high and save weight  By emptying The boot and not filling petrol tank up etc

I expect.the 35 has a different filter as it seems to have the older intake system but i maybe wrong.

yeah possibly. all the other mk6 and new skoda and seats use the same panel filter though, even the diesels.

Why do a lot of posts on here relate to better mpg 
Get a sootchucker not a Gti if your that concerned

Have a read of This thread it may give you some ideas. Some are reporting improved mpg and im getting far more MPG than others here post screen shots of but i put that down to driving style rather than the mods on that thread ive done.

2 go faster a car must inject more petrol.... That's the bottom line

the OP is after more mpg not to go faster

for more mpg you need LESS fuel, less rolling and wind resistance, less weight

Just having a hard time adjusting from the 30/31 mpg in the rocco to the ridiculous 25 in the golf, just expected more from here after the 3000 miles ive clocked up already , cheers anyways.

I've been driving various VW's for the last 30 years and one thing I have noticed is that it can take up 8,000 to 10,000 miles before you get a true indication of what the mpg will be.
Is it mostly town driving you do ? If so plan a long run when you have some time off say at the weekend and go stay the night somewhere you fancy with your good lady. A long run can be good for the car.

I also notice a big difference in winter where I can't better 34 mpg. Now with milder weather coming in it has shot up to 38mpg driving the same way I do in winter.

Not sure if some of the posters are company car drivers so fuel is paid ? Lately I have been getting some jip from my misses because we are spending not far short of £400 a month on petrol. The price of petrol in the country is a huge ripp off which seems to be accepted by Joe public. Still you can't beat putting the accelerator to the floor and belting down a twisty B-Road it's about the only thing that speeds up my Metabolism these day's ! !c ! ! !
