Newbie needing help
« on: 16 February 2012, 14:02 »
Hi all,

Ok here goes.....I have a 1600 golf Mk3 just had the car and give it new sparks and leads, whilst doing this i saw just above the row of sparks 2 plugs above mounted within the engine block just below the rocker cover,
I have no idea what these are i am thinking they maybe sensors the problem i see is that there is a piece of wire joining them not original just normal flex.

So the million dollar ???? what the hell are they?

Thanks in advance

An top forum best i have seen so far

I replaced the headlights in my car with strobe lights, so it looks like I'm the only one moving.

As your only viewing i decided to dig in the forums and they are oil sensors temp/pressure so now i know what they are, why would you join them together with a piece of wire??
Will just keep looking some old posts may have the answer.

Are you talking about the earth block, with the 10mm nuts ?  they are joined as they share the same earth...  the actual sensors are just above the oil filter, they are single spade terminals with rubber boots on,  if they are joined, some one is trying to hide something, re-wire and see what happens,  i dont see why they would be bridged together.   Any change of a photo so we can see?

Yea it sounds like some one has done a quick repair on it, the wires go brittle down there somtimes, check for leaks from the sensors, if they are looking ok, just fit spades and re-fit.  there are two pressure sensors, high and low RPM,  the GTI also has a 3rd for oil temp.  If the oil light works correctly then there are no issues with the connections, so should just be a case of repairing the spades.
