Black Monzas were a dealer fit.  They were fitted as standard to ED30s on the continent, but we had the BBS Pescaras as standard.

Buster73, I pick up my ED35 on 2nd March (can't wait)  Please give us some details of your car? I  am going down to the dealers to talk about the deal on Friday  very pleased for you.

Out of interest Edi what made you swap your current mk6 gti for an ed35 seeing as the mk7 gti is on the horizon?

I'm tempted to do the same this year as I can't see me paying 30k when the mk7 comes out.

I agree, it's going to be bad enough for all MK6 owners when the MK7 comes out let alone losing money on the standard GTI then losing money on the ED35 too.  I was going to get a used R this year but I can't bring myself to spend that amount of money on a car that's going to look and feel dated in 18 months time...

Lets be honest the MK7 standard GTI is going to a better car than the standard GTI and the ED35 for sure.

Well I just couldn't not have it as  I really loved my ED30 and the MK6 is a better car overall but doesnt have the same feel of the ED30 and is not quite as exciting. The ED35 is the best of both and is just a great car, looks fantastic, sounds just like the R, revs like the ED30 and is the best GTI to date

The family only has one car at present so when the MK7 comes out I will see what that is like and decide when to buy and might end up with two like I did when I had the ED30 and the current MK6 but that is really going to hurt my piggy bank

Each to their own with regard to buying new or used cars as we all have different budgets. For me the ever rising cost of living in this country is making me think twice about buying new cars at 30k +.

Yes I'd love a fully loaded mk7 gti and there's no doubt it will be a better car but I'm not prepared to break the bank for one. The Mk6 gti ticks all the boxes for me so I would be more than happy to buy another one and save a few pennies in the process.

I'm sure I'm not the only one in this current climate who is thinking along these lines.

I've brought either new or nearly new cars every 3-4 years for the last 18 years. I think spending circa 25k is the peak I'm willing to pay now tbo.

and so the circle continues...

the mk5 owners complained the mk6 was too expensive for what was essentially the same car. Once the final payments of their finance were complete they realised that actually the mk6 wasnt that bad.

the mk6 owners are now in the same boat and most will say how the mk7 is too expensive and wont be worth it as the mk6 is so good... the ed35 owners will complain how they wouldnt buy a less powerful car as did the ed30 owners looking at a new gti.

.... it all changes

And even if it has 300BHP they will get them remapped and say that's how it should have left the factory

LOL your right and knowing me I'll buy a Mk7. The point I was trying to make though is the cost of living and cost of running cars has risen considerably since the Mk5&6 days therefore some people will think twice about buying new cars in this climate. I might be wrong.... Would be interesting to know from someone in the game how new cars are selling compared to a few years back?
