4motion
« on: 05 February 2012, 22:19 »
Hi looking for a bit advice on purchasing a 4motion, currently i own a mk4 gti  however my wife has taking a shine to it and i barley see it these days, lol.  So thinking about treating myself to a 4motion.  Is there anything i should be looking out for when viewing one.  Any advice would be welcomed.

4mo is a bit of a step backwards sorta, what makes you want a 4mo?

4wd?

Whereabouts are you, as (I know, its cheeky) but I've got mine for sale, its in the classifieds, and its just about to clock 50k.

Fuel wise I get 380 to a tank, so they're not brilliant, but then again, they're not the worst.

had numerous gti's over the years mk2's, mk3 gti and vr6 plus mk4gti that i currently own,  torque/bhp not that important to me these days thats not what drew my attention to the 4motion(getting old, lol.  happens to us all).  Just the details, 6 speed box, 4 wheel drive etc, quite handy 4 wheel drive in scotland.  Yeah gti's my first love, however the 4motion looks not 2 shabby even underated.  Not keen on the wood in the interior.  Not made my mind up on a 4motion though, that's why i was asking for some feedback.  A step backwards?  Could you divulge.

only a step backwards if you wanted power from the engine! but like you say, your not fussed! the 4mo would be a good all rounder!

the wooden dash can be gone in a jiffy

yeah thats what interested me in a 4motion,  for the cost, it appears that your getting quite a lot of golf for your pound.

Indeed mate i was mega lucky i was going for a r32 origionally but as we had just bought the a5 i noticed a ad in scotads for a 4mo with 60k bought in aberdeen full service history from vw aberdeen full spec imaculate for 2500 i couldnt believe it and at that time r32's were still expensive ... i have to say i hated the wood dash but i changed it to all aluminium for 180 quid and stuck a anni kit on...... i love it bloody good car for the money and it is fast enough so i really cant complain

I don't think there's anything wrong with them either.  Lovely v6 sound, plus 204bhp isn't to be laughed at.  I imagine fuel economy isn't any worse than the 1.8T.
