smug for one day's use out of 365? its a sunday so its not even like you saved a day's wages 
It's even worse than that, there are 366 days this year!
I drove yesterday and today, no problem even though snow was about 10" deep, I drive a rear wheel drive bmw 3 series compact, all tyres are low on tread and I haven't got stuck, my mate wasn't so lucky in his M5 though, he covered quarter of a mile got stuck diagonally across the road with one of the rear wheels in the gutter, he called me at work to come and push him out.
Then today took it to his yard and it took 40 minutes to get it about 300 feet, I got fed up shovelling snow from in front of the tyres using a dustbin so I drove round the block drove all the way up to his car and reversed back, not a problem for me, told him to follow my tracks, it still needed pushing to do that, so now he's left it there and I've got to take him to work at 03:00.
Loads of idiots getting stuck though, stopping in a deep bit of snow instead of stopping 10 foot further back where there is clear tarmac, then just putting their foot down when they get stuck, like that will solve the problem of not having any traction, and the amount of people who have just gone off the road is scary, they still try to drive like the road conditions are normal.
But by far the worst thing is how people have been parking, if you can call it parking that is, I call it skidding to a stop in a random place either half way up the path or closer to the centre of the road than the curb and abandoning the vehicle. I love how there is a bit of snow and peoples brains stop working and everyone panics.
