Use g12 and mix before pouring in.

Don't be daft, any coolant that drops the freezing temperature will do.  The vehicles I work on have intergalactic mileage with no signs of water corrosion, and they are all using a generic ethylene glycol 50:50 mix.

anti freeze is anti freeze isnt it never bothered using anything specific just as long as it withholds below a certain temp it should be fine wether it 99p or £100 all does the same job as far as i know  :grin:

g12 contains an oil and rust inhibitors as well as anti freeze and dont mix differance colour anti freezes as they chemically react with each other and sludge up the rad and you will in the long run end up with over heating problems vw recommend g12 for a reason you can by g12 from most factors  g12 is just the type term for that type coolant as long as its g12 its fine for your vw other types of coolant one have the right blends or even have anything other then antifreeze in it

G12 contains oils and a corrosion inhibitor?  Look up ethylene glycol and see what it contains....

VW recommend it, because they sell it.
