£26,000 per year capped benefits - still to bloody much, remember that's 100% "take home" Most people I know may earn in the region of that, but then have tax + NI to come off, bringing the equivalent working mans wage in at approx £20,000 after deductions

I wouldn't say thats too bad to be fair, I have a daughter and me and my partner earn a fair amount, nothing to fantastic, but the child tax credits and child benefits really do help with childcare otherwise it wouldn't be worthwhile for us to work, by making the cap to short it would mean if two people work in the household one of them would be better off with no job. Plus them two benefits is really all that the working class receive.

I worked as a student and have continue to work, never once had to sign on and same for my partner, I rather be in work than at home as dull as work may seem.

If it weren't due to ridiculous child care costs I wouldn't need to worry about any form of benefits, but whatever the government seems to govern seems to make that particular thing high priced, before they governed childcare the costs where a hell lot less, same with the SIA argument earlier, if they didn't govern the security industry it would improve wages as a whole, plus the SIA is as pointless as anything as it doesn't really help with your job and the exam can be passed by a monkey.

So are you suggesting that childcare should not be regulated?

It should but not to the crazy extent the government go, in return to cause the service to become a high premium. as said look at childcare over the last decades and how its changed to the high premium service it is now. As a parent I am more than happy for them to regulate and I am happy to do, but I've seen the government and social services cock up before to many times in other matters as I work for the court, so its more than a reality.

It's like the joke "whats the difference between social services and a bull dog?" "You are more likely to get your child back from the bulldog"

£26000 works out to around £35000 gross. So it sounds as though anyone who earns less shouldn't bother working!

OK so you have managed to do something most people can't, you have royally f**kced me off!

Thanks. I try.

When you have worked from the age of 16 supporting your family because your no good lazy ars3hole of a father chooses to claim disability rather than work and work for £3 per hour doing 50/60 hour weeks then get another job where you think your employer is paying your tax and NI contributions like they should, (NOT MY CHOICE NOT TO HAVE IT PAID, IT WAS TAKEN FROM MY PAY!) then you keep lending him money to pay the bills on top of the rent your paying him end up giving him £10,000 in one lump to pay off mortgage arrears so as not to lose the house bringing the total owed to you to £30,000 to £35,000 only to be kicked out of the house a couple of months later with nothing left in the bank, not knowing anyone with no friends because you weren't allowed, then come back and talk to me because you haven't got a f**kcing clue!

While I symapathise with your situation, that was a choice YOU made. Itf was a bad one, but we all make them. This is not about what you have done for others so try not to digress. I was clearly focusing on your excuses for not being able to find work..

I have hadd sh!t jobs that no one else will do just so I'm working, that's why my tax never got paid because I have always worked for ars3holes!

NO. Your tax never got paid because your employer was paying a proportion of the tax to YOU.

Driving is cheaper than the train/bus that's why!!!

If you weren't so quick to judge and took the time to read properly you would have read that I offer to work for free if I can walk/bike there, this is up to 10 miles as that would be all I can manage.

I don't get a friend to drive me as I only have 2 one leaves for work at 01:00 Monday morning and gets back at about 19:00 Friday night so he can't take me and the other works out the country during the week so he can't do it either.

Buy a scooter.

Most my neighbours are retired, a few are out of work, the others have jobs that they have had for years, 1 bloke is the most skilled engineer I have ever met and even he can't get a job.

As stated before, a change of skill set seems to be required. Why would you keep banging on a door when no one will ever open?

last week I worked over 90 hours for £250 so that I'm not sitting on my a$$ I've told the jobcentre and I'll have a week deducted from my benefit, when was the last time you worked for £2.77p per hour?

Every job I've ever had I have always got to work early, not once have I been late or not turned up, I have always been lowest paid and hardest worker in the company, I have never taken a days holiday even when I worked 13 out of 14 days for 3 and a half years and even worked Christmas new year and every other bank holiday for the same pay.

Glad to hear.

It would be nice to have enough money in the bank to not claim for 3 months, unfortunately when I have a job I work for a living and get little pay for it, unlike people who work in an office.

and as I've already said I'm waiting to start a temp job as relief so it's not like I don't want to work, so If you can come up with helpful suggestions instead of being a pr*ck I'd be grateful for the help, if not keep your trap shut about things you know nothing about and bother someone else.

This kind of answers my question as to why you only have 2 friends. As for people in offices.... they dont just get jobs, they work for them.

Tigerj360 The Astra is gone, the golf is going to replace the bmw and I'll sell the bmw, already ahead of you on that, the Astra was only worth £200

Oh and seeing as I suffered brain damage when I was beaten as a child I don't ever need to work, I could play on that, claim more money and never work again, difference between me and my dad is, as long as I'm able to work I will.

Although I am genuinely sorry to hear about your tough up bringing... I assure you I have some close friends that have endured similar if not worse childhood. They are now... after lots of hard work and some smart moves doing very well for themselves.

Work smarter... not harder. .

And to finish I leave you with a nice inspiring tale...

Aged 7 years old a boy and his family was forced out of their home and he needed to work to support his family.
His mother passed away a few years later. His sister died 10 years later. He then started a business venture which failed.
He ran for the State Legislature. He lost. In the same year, he also lost his job. He decided he wanted to go to law school but couldn't get in. He borrowed money from a friend to start a business. By the end of the year, he was bankrupt.
He ran for the State Legislature again. This time he won. The year was looking better as he was engaged to be married. Unfortunately, his fiancée died and he was grief stricken.
This was the year he had a total nervous breakdown and for 6 months was bedridden. He sought to become Speaker of the State Legislature. He was defeated.
He sought to become Elector. He was defeated.
He ran for Congress. He lost. He ran for Congress again. He finally won and moved to Washington. He ran for re-election to Congress. He lost.
He sought the job of Land Officer in his home state. He didn't get the job. His son, then dies. He ran for the Senate of the United states. He lost.
He sought the Vice Presidential nomination at a national convention. He got less than 100 votes. He ran for the Senate again. He lost again.
Later this man is then elected President of the United States . Later his other son also dies at age 12.

On April 14 1865, This man is assassinated. I will leave you to figure out who this man was.

Child tax credit could be scrapped if it were a case of better and more free child care provided by the gov. We pay £1000 childcare fees at present which we do so because we are £150 a month better off than the other half staying at homeand not working. Once my 4yr old tests full time place in proper reception class that will reduce to £700 but come on. That's for one kid and these childminders have like 3-4kids with them. Take home pay is in the region of my job and manage 9 staff. But I get taxed on it and like I said with mortgage and everything else have little left over.

Roll on the little buggers being in school!!!

As said before, I think all handouts should be accountable. Sroungers should make do with a basic existance and only receive what they need, not what they expect.

The same could be said for maintenence payments. My cousin, who is divorced has a 6 year old son. He lives in the same village as his ex wife, so gets very good access to him. In fact when you divide up the time that the lad is not at school, he has his boy living with him over 40% of the time. They both work full time and earn a good wage. They split all the expenses for the lads clothes, shoes, clubs, basically everything 50-50, but even tho' she gets the child benifits and tax credits, he still has to give her £150 a month.

Whilst he doesn't begrudge paying the money for his lad, there is no way the £150 is being spent on him. He reckons she should demonstrate what the money is being spent on, and everything that doesn't go towards feeding and clothing his son, should be put into a savings account for his future.

I'm not sure why the goverment should provide free child care that is another thing that has to be paid why should i pay for someone's children to be looked after.

I am a great believer that people should be means tested before they have children for too long people have expected to have as many children as they want whether they can afford them or not.

I pay the same tax as people with children yet i don't get any benefits like child benefit or tax credits etc etc how can this be fair that people pay less tax in effect because they knocked out a few kids they can't afford.

In theory i should pay less tax as i am less of a burden on the state ! :lipsrsealed:
