Continual Velocity Joint

Would seem my car has suddenly hit that point (just when i'm thinking about Bremsport breaks and PSS coil overs) where it needs loads of cash spent on it!

My header tank is leaking slightly and needs to be replaced. It is running to hot and i don't think the pressure is right in the system. Rad fan is coming on every five minutes which i don't think is right on a frosty morning in september!

Gator is split on the CV joint and the joint its self is now makin noise. I had not noticed this as the induction is so bloody loud! The joint is not completely dry but the noise it is makin leads me to believe it is full of grit and the surface of the bearings is starting to pit.

How much for a new CV?

Will have a better look at it on the weekend but judging by the sound it is making, too late has come and gone!

Think its gonna have to be a new joint, can't take the risk of it locking up the drive shaft while i'm doing 60mph to work in the morning! Drive it carefully and look after it but it is my daily runner and i use the car alot.

Don't think i can do it myself either. Don't like the idea of taking the drive shaft apart with out an air gun! Tis looking expensive!!!

Its not hard to take the outer joint off, just bang it off. You don't need an air gun!  :D

It will start banging as the grease gets flung out quite quickly once the boot goes. take the joint off and wash it out in parrafin and you sohlud be fine, no point getting a new one if the old one is fine. depends how long it has been knocking for. obviously the sooner the better is the key for cv joints
